Christmas

"Christmas is the mystery of contact with God, fundamentally and actually." (p. 72)

Love in its self is mystery
you just got to put up with
    the discomfort it just seems
like it does not want to go away !

  2. Sr Simone of Network sent out a good greeting: Let us remember on drear distant days/ we are a promised Christmas joy/ we live as one this tragic gifted life--We are the Body of God!
I liked receiving this greeting, which Sr Simone Campbell wrote in 2002, excerpted from INCARNATION

    1. I don't think that I've ever noticed so much the Xmas intermingling of "drear" and "tragic" with "joy" and "gift" as much as I have this year. I'm also glad to know that Sr. Simone wrote that -- she is misinterpreted by many Catholics. This greeting attests to her profound wisdom, in my opinion.

    1. I had that book once, bob - I may still have it somewhere on my bookshelf. I had a hard time getting through it, for some reason. (Maybe the 600 pages had something to do with it!) Would rather read Merton himself.

ANY ONE on this list is welcomed to have it !
it is not a fun book to read and does
not paint Merton as a pie in the sky person
with his personal conflicts and insecurities -

    1. I hope you can pass the book on, bob. Not sure that this "list" has so many followers, though.
