Prayer: Psalm 121 - Dan Berrigan

I lift my eyes to you
my help, my hope

the heavens (who could imagine)
the earth (only our Lord)
the infinite starry spaces
the world's teeming breath

All this. I lift my eyes
- upstart, delighted -
and I praise

    if i were enlighten
how wood i know it -
    what wood be different ?
if there was a different ,
then how could i be enlightened -
    perhaps enlightenment arrives
    when enlightenment is discarded
alas once i thought i was wrong but i was mistaken - a-men
