"Your brightness is my darkness.
I know nothing of You and, by myself,
I cannot even imagine how to go about knowing You.
If I imagine You, I am mistaken.
If I understand You, I am deluded.
If I am conscious and certain I know You, I am crazy.
The darkness is enough."

—Thomas Merton, prayer before midnight mass at Christmas, 1941.
Much obliged, this may be facebook worthy as well.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be groping with louie of late -- feeling that it has run its course and not finding ANYTHING that truly speaks to me contemplatively. The well is running dry.
ReplyDeleteI also can't find my footing in Facebook. So many of the people that I talk to don't "do" Facebook, and my own Facebook involvement feels terribly superficial to me. Maybe it has to be so that we can all get along.
much obliged, Daniel. And thanks.
